Players are awarded points for participating and points for winning.

More points are awarded in the post-season then during the season.

What this means is that a win at #4 singles and a loss at #1 singles are the same for singles ratings.  In doubles, a loss at #1 is the same as a win at #3.

Your rating is then your points divided by the number of matches you’ve played—either in singles or in doubles.  Another way to think of it is the average number of rating points you score during each match.
