May 13 - Waseca -- On another super windy spring day, Waseca topped Rochester Lourdes, 5-2, winning over Lourdes for the first time in more than 10 years.

Waseca won 3 of 4 singles, losing only Spencer Broughten fighting but losing a 3-set match at #3. Sam Conway, Tyler Kolpin, and eight grader Pete Swanson continued their great seasons, all three winning in straight sets. Conway, Kolpin, and Swanson are a combined 36-3 in singles this year.

Waseca took 2 of the 3 doubles matches, with Andrew Somers and Trent Chesley losing a long and exciting match at #1, falling 5-7, 7-6 (5), 4-6. At #2, Colby Swanson and Shane Milbrath won in straight sets and at #3 Colin Oraskovich and Eric Vanderstelt won a 3-set barnburner, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-4.

This season has shown possibly that the team most ready to play wins, as Owatonna beat Rochester Lourdes 4-3, Northfield beat Lourdes 4-3, Owatonna beat Waseca 5-2, Northfield beat Waseca 4-3, and Waseca beat Lourdes 5-2. Waseca hosts the South Central Conference Individual Championships on Saturday.
