The Mankato Athletic Tennis Center is managed by Gerard Schwarz, who is one of just 500 tennis pros in the country certified by the USPTR, USPTA, and the USTA Sports Medicine tennis associations.  He received four 1-year degrees from the Technical College of the Low Country in South Carolina on Coaching and Teaching Tennis, Club Management, and Pro Shop Management.  He worked for the world-renowned Van Der Meer Tennis Center and Van Der Meer Shipyard Tennis Center, both located on Hilton Head Island.

Gerard also taught at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center at Doral Resort in Miami and was tennis director of the 600+ member Springfield Country Club in Ohio.  He coached Hilton Head's high school team to the state semi-finals and has been a coach for nationally and locally ranked juniors as well as college players.  Gerard was taught tennis teaching by two of the best-known coaches in tennis today--Dennis Van Der Meer, who has taught more pros how to teach than anyone else, and Gregg Presuto, author of two books on how to teach tennis to children, and head of the USPTR's kid's teaching department.
