WELCOME                                                                  

The Mankato Athletic Tennis Center is a privately owned tennis facility located 4 miles south of Mankato on Highway 22.  We're dedicated to raising the level of tennis throughout the area as well as adding more fun to everyone's tennis playing experience.

We welcome all levels, ages, and abilities to the Tennis Center.  We hope you make tennis a lifetime pleasure for you and your family.  Please let us know how we can best serve you.

STAFF                                                                       

Our staff is led by Tennis Director Gerard Schwarz.  Gerard is certified by the USPTR, USPTA, and USTA Sports Medicine tennis teaching organizations.  He has four 1-year degrees in tennis teaching, coaching, facility, and pro shop management.  Gerard has taught locally and nationally ranked juniors as well as adults of all levels at some of the top academies and resorts in the country.  Gerard has been taught by and with two of the best known coaches in the country-- Dennis Van Der Meer, Tennis magazine columnist, and Greg Presuto, considered by many the leading kid's tennis teacher in the country.

SERVICES

MATC is a full-service tennis club with 4 indoor hard courts, a fully-stocked pro shop, men and women's
locker rooms, large upstairs viewing area, and tennis lounge & exercise room.  Leagues, lessons,
and tournaments are available for all levels and abilities of junior and adult players.  We are open Monday through Saturday 9am to 10pm and Sunday 10am to 8pm.

MEMBERSHIPS                                                            

Members pay a one-time yearly joining fee and then pay as they go for court time, leagues, lessons, etc.  Members receive tremendous discounts and amenities.  Membership types include (sales tax extra):

GUESTS                                                                  

Guests must pay a $5 guest fee each time they use the  Tennis Center (unless noted).  Guests are limited to 3 times per year of using the Tennis Center for court time.  Guests may take lessons, participate in leagues, and play in Tournaments and it does not count as a guest appearance.

COURT TIME                                                           

Court time reservations may be made during any open hours.  Members may reserve up to a week in advance (juniors excluded).  Non-members and juniors may reserve the day of play.  There is a maximum of 1 1/2 hours of court time if demand warrants during peak hours.

The Tennis Center requires 24-hour cancellation notice on all court reservations and lessons.  If you
do not cancel in time, you will be charged half price up until 6 hours before time.  If you do not show up for your time or cancel within 6 hours of your court time, you will be charged full price.  If you cancel and we do fill your time slot, you will not be charged.

PERMANENT COURT TIME                                        

Permanent court time (PCT) allows you a guaranteed weekly time slot.  Requirements of PCT:

      ·      At least 1 player of those signing up for PCT must be a member.
      ·      Court time may be 1 or 1 1/2 hours of  duration during peak times and 2 hours during non-peak.
      ·      Each 8-week session must be paid in advance.
      ·      A $2 an hour discount per time per court is given for a 32-week commitment.  This is a savings of from $64 to $128.
      ·      There is no PCT on Christmas or Thanksgiving or other holidays when the Tennis Center is closed.
      ·      MATC reserves the right to assign you another court time should a special MATC event be during your assigned court time.

SATURDAY ADULT OPEN COURTS                              

Adults may enjoy the ball machine, radar gun, rebound net, and other MATC training tools free of charge on Saturdays for very discounted court time during the Adult Open Courts from 11:00 am to 2:30pm.  Play is supervised and the number of players per court limited.

OUR PHILOSOPHY                                                           

It is our goal at MATC to make all players winners--on and off the court--and to raise the level of all junior players throughout the area.  Tennis is a sport players can enjoy their entire lives--and we help make it fun and easy to learn.  We emphasize fundamentals through proven progressions--providing each student with a strong foundation of skills that they can add their own signature to.  We believe each student must have individual attention to become their best and aim to help them set and then accomplish challenging but achievable goals.  Players are rewarded with Junior Achievement certificates and ribbons upon passing tests of their capabilities.

MATC offers a wide variety of programs for juniors including Group Lessons, Private Lessons, Membership, Discounted Court Time, Junior Open Courts, Unlimited Weekend Junior Play, Junior Singles Ladders, the JETS travelling teams, and much more.  We're confident we can help your child become better and enjoy the lifetime sport of tennis.

JUNIOR GROUP LESSONS                                                 

There are four 8-week sessions during the fall, winter, and spring (September through May).  Players may participate on either one or two days per week.

Players may be required to audition to place them in the appropriate group.  We try to keep a 6:1 ratio or less for students to pros, and work to have individual attention in all of our group classes.  More classes may be added or subtracted due to demand and/or schedules.  Call for more information.

Each new student receives a free junior tennis racquet ($20 value) or t-shirt ($12 value) for their first session.

If a player is signed up for two classes, the player receives a free 1/2 hour private lesson from the tennis director at the player's convenience during the session.

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP                                                          

Juniors may become members, providing them with many discounts and other privileges, including the ability to play on the JETS travelling teams.  For just $75 per year, juniors receive discounted court time, junior open courts, ball machine use, private lessons, and group lessons.  Juniors may themselves purchase junior memberships or be junior members if they are part of a family membership.  All juniors must be in high school or below.  Juniors may only reserve court time the day of their play.

JUNIOR GUESTS                                                                   

Junior players may play at the Tennis Center without being members.  Junior non-members are limited to playing 3 times per year at the Tennis Center for court time (lessons, clinics, open court sessions, and tournaments do not count towards this total).  Junior non-members must pay their portion of their court time as well as a $2.50 junior guest fee for each time playing at MATC.

JUNIOR COURT TIME                                                             

All junior court time is discounted from adult court time--just $12 an hour (instead of $16)--except when further discounted (see Friday Junior Open Courts).  Juniors may only reserve the day of their play.

UNLIMITED WEEKEND JUNIOR PLAY                                     

Junior members may play unlimited tennis on weekends from Friday 6 pm to Sunday 8 pm (or closing) for just $25 a month.  A maximum of 1 1/2 hours at a time if demand warrants.  All junior ladder matches are included.

FRIDAY JUNIOR OPEN COURTS                                              

Juniors may enjoy the ball machine, radar gun, rebound net, and other MATC training tools free of charge on Fridays for very discounted court time during the Junior Open Courts from on Fridays from 2:00 to 5:30pm.  Play is supervised and the number of players per court limited.

JUNIOR SINGLES LADDERS                                                    

There are three singles ladders set up for junior play.  Players receive discounted court time when playing ladder matches.  There is a $10 setup fee.  All junior ladder matches are just $4 per player for 1 hour of singles.  Handicaps are used to make this play more competitive and exciting.  Rankings are adjusted after each match.

JUNIOR EXCELLENCE TENNIS STARS TRAVELLING TEAMS     

The Junior Excellence Tennis Stars (JETS) are two MATC junior travelling tennis teams.  JETS1 is composed of any junior member who can play full court tennis while JETS2 requires a junior member to try out and qualify by passing certain tests--mainly to be at a high junior varsity or varsity level.

Cost for JETS -- either JETS1 or JETS2:
Members and in group lessons (must be both)          $16   (Just $2 per practice session)
Members only                                                        $32   (Just $4 per practice session)

Additional costs will be discounted JETS matchplay court time at MATC or when visiting other tennis clubs.  MATC adds no additional costs onto these charges.  The above costs include 8 one-hour drill practice sessions.


PRIVATE LESSONS                                                                   

Private lessons are available for juniors throughout the day and week.  Costs are as follows:

Add $3 for each additional person per lesson for a semi-private lesson.

Each 6-pack includes one hour of free ball machine use and a $5 gift certificate that may be used in the MATC pro shop.

OTHER JUNIOR PROGRAMS                                                         

Additional junior programs include free junior tennis matchmaking, setting matches up for juniors of similar levels.  Also, there will be many winter tournaments at the Tennis Center including a parent-child tournament, junior club championships, doubles and mixed doubles tournaments, and more.  Check our website at www.mankatotennis or call (507) 345-7777 for more information.
